So You Want to Start Running?

A Beginner’s 30-Day Guide to Getting Started on the Right Foot

Have you ever watched runners go by and thought, “There’s no way I could ever do that”?

I’ve got news for you. You can. And I’d love to help you get there.

This book is for the everyday person who wants to start running but doesn’t know where to begin. You don’t need to be fast or young, and you don’t need to look like a runner. You just need to take the first step, and I’ll walk you through the rest, one chapter at a time.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to find the right running shoes, the #1 investment for new runners
  • Starting off, The run-walk method that makes starting out easier, using Jeff Galloway’s Run-Walk-Run® approach
  • Why you’ll be slow at first, and why that’s perfectly okay
  • How to avoid burnout and injury, and tell normal soreness from something more
  • Running safety for new and experienced runners
  • What to wear, what to eat, and how to fit running into a busy schedule
  • How to stay motivated when running gets hard, and what to do when you miss a run
  • Why joining a running group might be the best thing you ever do
  • When it’s time for a running watch, and when it’s time to plan your first 5K

Go at your own pace. There are 30 chapters, one for each day, but one chapter a day is a guide, not a rule. If you need to repeat a week or spend extra time on a chapter, that’s part of the process.

Includes a FREE Companion Workbook. Every “Your Turn” section in the book has a page in the workbook. It includes a run log, a shoe fitting checklist, an interval tracker, a gear checklist, a first 5K plan and more. Print the whole thing or just the pages you need.
